Overview
Air Ambulanceia coordinates international air ambulance transfers for patients who cannot travel safely on an ordinary commercial flight. The service is arranged with verified air ambulance operators and medical teams, and is planned around the patient’s assessed clinical needs rather than around a fixed package.
A typical case involves a dedicated aircraft configured for patient transport, a medical escort team appropriate to the condition, and ground ambulance legs at both ends so the movement is continuous from bed to bed.
Our coordination team works on case intake, medical assessment, operator selection, documentation and India-side arrival support. We arrange and coordinate transport with partner operators; we do not claim ownership of aircraft or hospitals.
Every case is subject to medical assessment, aircraft or airline approval, operator availability and applicable regulations.
Suitability
Nothing is confirmed on the basis of a website form alone. Suitability, and the level of care required, is determined after the medical information has been reviewed by a qualified medical team or the operator’s medical officer.
Process
Six stages from first contact to arrival in India.
Step 1
Share the patient's location, treating hospital, diagnosis and the intended destination in India or abroad.
Step 2
Current medical reports are reviewed so the appropriate level of transport care can be identified.
Step 3
Aircraft or airline options, crew requirements, equipment and ground legs are planned with selected service providers.
Step 4
Medical clearance, travel documentation and airport requirements are coordinated for the specific route.
Step 5
The patient is moved with continuous monitoring appropriate to the assessed level of care.
Step 6
Ground ambulance meets the flight and the patient is handed over at the receiving hospital or residence.
Scope
Inclusions are confirmed per case. Every arrangement is subject to medical assessment, airline or operator approval, availability and applicable regulations.
Documentation
General guidance only. The exact list depends on the countries, airline and circumstances involved.
Standards
The internationally recognised standards that preparation and paperwork are coordinated against, so documentation is presented in the form authorities, airlines, handlers and customs normally expect.
Documentation is assembled so it satisfies the authorities on both sides of the movement: the country of death, the Indian mission there, the carrier, and the customs and health authorities at the Indian arrival airport.
Registered death certificate and certified copies
The death certificate issued by the competent local registrar or authority, in certified copies, with attested translation where it is not issued in English.
Police, coroner or medical examiner release
Where the death was sudden, unattended or under investigation, the release or no-objection from the investigating authority is obtained before any movement can be planned.
Consular documentation and no-objection certificate
The Indian mission covering the place of death issues the consular documentation, and a no-objection certificate where required. Legalisation, notarisation or apostille of underlying documents may be needed first.
Airline or cargo documentation
Air waybill or booking documentation, shipper and consignee details, and the declaration set required by the carrier for the sector.
Indian customs and airport clearance
On arrival, the consignment is cleared with customs and airport authorities before release. Clearance is handled by the receiving agent and consignee with the required document set, and timing depends on the airport and the documents presented.
Onward transfer after release
Mortuary vehicle, freezer transport or onward domestic carriage to the final destination is coordinated so the movement continues without the family having to arrange it separately.
For a living patient the equivalent framework is clinical fitness assessment plus the operator's or airline's own medical clearance process.
Fitness-to-fly assessment
The treating doctor's opinion on whether the patient can be moved, at what altitude profile and with what level of in-flight care, reviewed by the transport medical team.
Airline medical clearance
Commercial carriage on a seat, a stretcher or with oxygen requires clearance from the airline's medical department on its own forms, submitted in advance.
Operator and aircraft requirements
For a dedicated air ambulance, the aircraft, medical configuration, crew and permits are arranged through licensed operators, subject to availability, slots and overflight or landing permissions.
Infection control in the cabin
Where an infection is known or suspected, isolation and protective arrangements are agreed with the operator or airline and with the receiving hospital before departure.
Receiving hospital acceptance
Written acceptance by a named hospital in India, with bed and admitting-team details, so the arrival and bed-to-bed transfer can be coordinated.
These are the standards and frameworks commonly referred to by authorities, airlines, ground handlers and consulates. They are not a guarantee of acceptance. Requirements vary by country, airport, airline or cargo carrier, handler, consulate and individual case, and the final checklist and approvals must be confirmed for the specific case.
Cost
Air ambulance and air ambulance services are planned around the individual journey. The air ambulance cost depends on the route, timing and case requirements, so we provide a written case specific quote rather than an unverified fixed price.
Coverage
Published corridors for this service. Additional routes are coordinated on request.
India arrival
Airport arrival coordination, then ground ambulance transfer to the receiving hospital or residence through the Ambulanceia ground network.

FAQ
It is a fixed-wing aircraft configured for patient transport, carrying medical crew and equipment so that clinical care continues during the flight. It is used when a patient’s condition makes ordinary commercial travel unsuitable.
Timelines depend on aircraft and crew availability, medical clearance, permits and airport slots on the specific route. We work on cases 24/7 and share realistic timelines once the case details are reviewed, rather than a fixed guarantee.
The escort team is decided by the medical assessment. Depending on the case it may include a doctor, a critical-care nurse or a paramedic team, subject to operator availability.
In most cases, yes. Ground ambulance legs can be coordinated at both ends so the patient moves from the referring hospital bed to the receiving hospital bed.
Where an insurer or employer is funding the movement, we can coordinate directly with them on documentation. Approval remains with the insurer.
